Designing a Sports Discovery Platform for Everyday Athletes
A European sports platform helping users discover nearby sport classes across website. This case study focuses on the website, designed to make it easier for users to explore and book local sport classes based on their needs and preferences

Finding a Class Shouldn’t Feel Like a Workout
We gathered insights through surveys and interviews, and here’s what users told us:
I just want to find a class near me — but it’s always hard to see what’s available when I’m free
I wish I could compare instructors and pricing without clicking through dozens of pages
Booking should be fast and clear. Most platforms make it feel so difficult
I want to try something new, but there’s no way to filter based on my interests or level
What Users Really Want in a Sports Platform
Users care most about class schedule, location, and instructor quality when picking a class
They want features like real-time class availability, clear pricing, and easy comparison tools
Simplicity and variety are key to bringing them back regularly
Learning from the Market to Build Something Better

We reviewed direct and indirect competitors and identified gaps:
Many lacked real-time availability or clear instructor ratings
Few platforms offered true beginner-friendly filters or flexible scheduling
Navigation and structure were often inconsistent
Key Takeaway: Our analysis helped us shape the information architecture and refine content to better serve users' expectations from similar tools
